Things You Can Do As A Bridesmaid To Make Yourself Look Better Than The Bride

I know, I know.  It sounds incredibly selfish to make yourself look like the bride.  However if you are as selfish as I am, here are a few tips to make yourself look outstanding.

1.)    Manicure – There’s nothing like a manicure to make your hands stand out as clean, soft, and feminine.  I’d recommend a French manicure, but some women choose to go with red finger nail polish.  Whichever way you choose, make absolutely certain that it is done by a professional as they will take care of your cuticles, smoothness of the nail, and professional quality finger nail extensions if you have short nails.

2.)    Pedicure – If you are wearing open toed shoes, you MUST get a pedicure.  Even doing finger nail polish yourself is no substitution for a pedicure.  This will make your feet look soft and distract from any blemishes of veins you have on your feet.

3.)    Professional Makeup – Sure, sure.  You’ve been doing your makeup since you were 13.  However, professional makeup artists have special kinds of makeup you can’t find in the store.  Also, they have airbrush tools to make sure that your makeup is 100% even across your face.

4.)    Professional Hairdresser – Your face and your hair are going to be the first thing people see as you introduce yourself.  Make sure your hair is silky smooth and put up correctly by a professional.  Remember, even professionals make mistakes.  If they don’t do it to your satisfaction the first time, then make them do it again.

5.)    Jewelry – Sparkling jewelry will certainly attract attention which is exactly what you want.  However, don’t pick anything too gaudy.  Small diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, and rubies depending on the dress will bring out an incredible shine without the massive precious stone look.  Make sure to get a matching or semi-matching bracelet, necklace, and earings.

6.)    Shoes – Pick high quality shoes.  Although sometimes you can find a good deal at payless, make sure you are going to a higher quality shoe store for your bride’s maid shoes.  I’d recommend open toed high heels.

Unfortunately, in nearly every case you will have to wear the dress that is assigned to you.  But generally, the bride will allow you some input on your dress so make sure you pick something that really shines.
